MY WANDERLUST

The Journey

It started to get cold in September 2020 and I knew that I couldn’t handle a pandemic winter lock down in Canada. Within the course of two weeks, I applied for visas to work remotely, and I sold my house. Over the next six weeks I began the process of selling most of my possessions, so that my life would fit into a 5 x 10-foot storage unit. At the end of November, I landed in Barbados, an island in the Eastern Caribbean, and began to explore it as a new home.

Wanderlust life is about the freedom to move around the world and experience it fully. My move took me to a foreign country, while yours may be closer to home. It is an exploration of taking the leap out of our comfort zones and surrounding yourselves with new people, ideas, and ways of being. It involves questioning what we know and doing things differently.

This is a journey of abundance and joy, with the usual pain and loneliness that wanderlust can bring. It is a community to support all of us in our journeys.

The Nice Guy: Islanders take it too far

There is an owner in our condo complex that has not paid maintenance fees for ten years.  I thought that I had misheard when they told me this AFTER I purchased my property.  This would never happen in Canada, was my response. In Canada, the bank would have foreclosed on the property OR [...]

About Me

My name is Sheri Hord. Some might call it impulsive. I prefer other words that people have used, such as exciting and inspiring to describe what I have done.

I have traveled the world, to over fifty countries and counting. I have been to all continents, except Antarctica, but if no one lives there does it really count? For me, travel is as close to an addiction or passion that I have, along with chocolate, and now surfing. Ironically, I have chosen to settle on the small island of Barbados, only 166 square miles, yet full of adventure!

Bajan Life

Barbados is so beautiful, and its nature and landscapes never disappoint. I came thinking I would avoid the winter in Canada. Then, I learned how to surf, and the waves kept going through the summer. Before I knew it, I became hooked on Bajan Life and didn’t leave the island for a year. Look below at the wonders that keep me mesmerized.
